During the weekend of September 30 - October 2, the St. Nicholas Tamburitzans of Monroeville spent a weekend at our beloved Shadeland Camp for a mini tambura week, as part of our Diocesan Shadeland Parish Camp Program. The focus of our weekend was classes in dance with Carla Husnick and instrument with Danny Vucelich. Not only did our children receive music and dance instruction, but the kids from our group also had classes in vocals with Snezana Lazich, Serbian culture with Nenad Radulovich, and religion with our parish priest, Father Stefan Djoric.
The kids had a bonfire on Friday night with posno (lenten) s’mores after their first dance rehearsal. After vespers on Saturday evening, our group had a surprise baby shower for Father Stefan. The kids had a blast on Saturday night at the dance in the A-Building with their glow necklaces and bracelets singing and dancing to their favorite Serbian music.
The culmination of the weekend was when the children performed their Pcinja set that they completely learned this weekend for the parents. Our parent group could not be prouder of the kids’ hard work, dedication and effort this weekend. Our kids love Shadeland and they were so happy to be back at a place that feels like home.
