ST. GEORGE CHURCH IN CARMICHAELS CELEBRATES PARISH SLAVA

The St. George Serbian Orthodox Church in Carmichaels, Pennsylvania has been consistent in providing Divine services on Sundays and feast days for the faithful in the parish through the years.

Each year the devoted parishioners come together in gratitude to celebrate St. George the Greatmartyr for the parish Slava. The Divine Liturgy is held on May 6 each year.

The blessing of the Slava bread and memorial wheat and a festive gathering occurs at an opportune Sunday close to May 6 for the parish faithful and guests to attend.

This year the Slava celebration continued recently on May 15 with great joy for the parishioners and all in attendance. Very Reverend Sasa Nedic officiated at the Divine Liturgy and the blessing of the Slava Kolac and Memorial Wheat. The St. George Choir under the direction of Sonia Janson provided the responses. Stan Brozik is the President of the Parish Executive Board and was to be the honored Host - Kum.

God has blessed the St. George Church for well over six decades. The parish has been a faithful place of refuge, prayer, and worship during worldly and local demographic changes. Through the decades, baptisms, marriages and funerals have taken place in the St. George Church. Several ordinations have been celebrated. Parishioners have been strengthened and have grown in Christ through the Divine services.

The St. George Church is a shining light and love of Christ to the surrounding community. Well-known for warmth and hospitality, the parishioners under the heart-felt leadership of Father Sasa Nedic are dedicated, strong and faithful.
