St Sava Celebration in Philadelphia

On January 29th 2017 St. Nicholas Serbian Orthodox Church of Greater Philadelphia Pa. held it’s annual Sveti Sava, Church school Slava celebration. The children honored Sveti Sava with a variety of traditional songs and poems. This year 43 children performed in the program representing all age groups from pre-k to the teen program. The day began with Divine Liturgy followed by the blessing and cutting of the slavski kolach with Father Milorad Orlic. Our pre k and K group lead the children in wearing cyrllic letters spelling out Sveti Sava. The program began with the children singing Oce Nas followed by the national anthems of the USA and Serbia. As a group the children beautifully sang O Srbio and Uskliklimo during the program they also sang Oce Nas during Divine Liturgy. The honored kumovi for this year were the Sikarica families, Mirko and Allison and their children Justina, Simieon , and Katarina and Vanja and Shannon and children Sofi, Mila and Sava. Honored Kumovi for 2018 is the Jovanovich family, Milan, Nevana and daughters Jana and Danica. Following the program our folklore group performed in the church hall prior to the luncheon, which was sponsored by the Sikarica families as kumovi.
