Eastern Region KSS Slava Celebration

Carmichaels, PA - The Eastern Region Federation of the KSS-Circle of Serbian Sisters celebrates the Feast of the Dormition of the Mother of God each year as the organization’s Slava.

This year the Federation Slava was celebrated at the St. George Serbian Orthodox Church in Carmichaels, Pennsylvania on August 28, 2015. The Divine Liturgy was celebrated with the blessing of the Slava Kolac’ and Koljivo.

Living and departed members of the Federation were remembered in prayer during the Divine Liturgy. Seven clergy participated in the Divine Liturgy and Sonia Janson, President of St. George Kolo, was the Kuma for the Slava.

Federation Officers include: Millie Radovick-President;  DeeDee Baskot-Vice President; Martha Springborn-Vice President and Secretary and Barbara Topich-Treasurer.  Very Reverend Stavrophor Dragoljub Malich is the Spiritual Advisor.

The Federation is composed of member Kolos from throughout the Eastern American Diocese of the Serbian Orthodox Church. His Grace Bishop Dr. MITROPHAN is the Diocesan Bishop.

Clergy from the Diocese serving at the Slava Divine Liturgy included: Very Rev. Stavrophor Dragoljub Malich, Very Rev.Stavrophor Rade Merick, Very Rev.Stavrophor Dr. Rodney Torbic, Very Rev. Rajko Kosic, Very Rev. Rumen Stoychev, Rev. Father Branislav Golic and Protodeacon Vladislav Golic. St.Sava School of Theology Seminarian Bojan Banovic participated. 

Following the Divine Liturgy, the Slava dinner was held in the church hall. Speakers at the dinner included KSS President Millie Radovick, Slava Kuma Sonia Janson, Spiritual Advisor-Very Rev.Stavrophor Dragoljub Malich, and St. George Executive Board President Stan Brozik. George Topich and Mitza Trbovich spoke about the benefits of the charitable program-LifeLine.

Federation officers and member Kolos work faithfully throughout the year to benefit parish churches, Shadeland Camp and Diocesan sponsored activities. The Federation consistently has worked for the benefit of the children and youth of the Diocese. The Federation provides support each year for clergy seminars at Shadeland.

Individuals from the following parish communities were in attendance at the KSS Slava:Cleveland and Steubenville, Ohio; Aliquippa, Midland, Monroeville, Pittsburgh and Youngwood, Pennsylvania; Fairmont, W.Va;  San Antonio, Texas.
