ST SAVA CELEBRATION IN BOSTON

Boston, MA - This year St. Sava was festively celebrated in the Boston parish. It was significant in that, unlike previous years, it was celebration in our newly purchased church in Cambridge.

On the eve of the feast Great Vespers was served while a Divine Liturgy was served on the day of the feast of St. Sava, January 27. On Sunday, January 29 the children of the Boston parish celebrated the feast by preparing the annual St. Sava Day Program. Besides the local priest, Prota Aleksandar Vlajkovic, Fr. Ivan Marjanovic from the neighboring Portland parish, served at the Divine Liturgy. Trajanka Milojevic and her family were this year’s kumovi.

Thirty children took part in the St. Sava Program which featured, besides the recitals, some children showcasing their musical talents by playing instruments. The faithful were also treated to the sounds of the gusla of Mladen Spajic. The program ended with a medley of Serbian kolos performed by our children’s folklore group. The faithful were moved by this ending which the children prepared especially for the St. Sava Day Program with a new choreography.
