100TH ANNIVERSARY AND CONSECRATION

Kansas City, KS - His Grace Bishop Mitrophan of Eastern America joined His Eminence Metropolitan Christopher of the Midwestern Metropolitanate for the Centennial Celebration of the St. George Serbian Orthodox Church in Kansas City from September 1-3, 2006.

This was a milestone in the history of this Serbian parish as it also marked the consecration of their new church in Lenexa, Kansas. Host clergy Fr. Aleksandar Bugarin was joined by visiting clergy in this celebration which began on Friday evening with the Vigil service. Eight priests and one protodeacon served. The following day began with the consecration of the church which was followed by the Holy Hierarchical Divine Liturgy. Serving at the Holy Altar were His Eminence Metropolitan Christopher, His Grace Bishop Mitorphan, assisted by thirteen priests and one protodeacon. Kumovi for the consecration of the new church were Peter and Donna Bajich.

During this most momentous occasion the host priest, Fr. Aleksandar was elevated to the rank of PROTOJEREJ.

Afterwards a luncheon was served, during which there was a perfomance put on by the children, along with folklore and singing. The formal banquet took place that evening at the Doubletree Hotel.

The Holy Hierarchical Divine Liturgy was served the following day with the hierarchs officiating, assisted by five priests and one protodeacon.
