FIRST ORDINATION IN FLORIDA
St. Petersburg, FL - For the first time in the history of the Serbian Orthodox Church in America, an ordination to the Holy Priesthood was held in a parish in Florida.
On Sunday, March 19, 2006, the St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church in St. Petersburg, FL , His Grace Dr. Mitrophan, with the assistance of Prota Miloje Raicevic, Prota Stephen Zaremba and Fr. Ljubisa Brnjos, ordained Deacon Stanislav Kravljaca to the Holy Priesthood. Fr. Stanislav is a graduate of the St. Sava School of Theology in Libertyville, IL and will be appointed the first parish priest of the St. King Milutin parish in Jacksonville, FL.
Before the beginning of the Divine Liturgy, Bishop Mitrophan tonsured Selimir Vagic, a first year student at the St. Sava School of Theology, reader.
After the Divine Liturgy, on the occasion of the first slava of the Serbian School of St. nikolai of Serbia at St. Sava parish in St. Petersburg, St Bishop Mitrophan cut the slavski kolac. The hosts (domacini) were Sandra Rakovic and Neven Jovanovic.
