On October 5th, 2024, the St. Nicholas Serbian Orthodox Church Choir of Monroeville, Pennsylvania, celebrated their 95th Anniversary.  With the blessing of His Grace, Bishop Irinej of Washington-New York and Eastern America, St. Nicholas Choir of Monroeville hosted five choirs for their concert celebration at their Church Hall, with many in attendance commenting that it felt like a mini choir festival!  

The Featured Guest Choir was SSS St. George of Lenexa, Kansas, who additionally sang liturgical responses for Divine Liturgy on Sunday morning. 

The event was both a celebration of 95 years of Serbian choral tradition, and a statement to the camaraderie present in our Serbian Orthodox Community.

In addition to SSS St. George of Lenexa, Kansas, guest choirs included the Holy Trinity Cathedral Choir, Carica Milica, and Tsar Lazar, each from the Greater Pittsburgh Area.  The Petar Krstich Choir from Holy Resurrection Serbian Orthodox Church in Steubenville, Ohio also made the trip to Monroeville to join in the celebration. 

Following the concert, St. Nicholas Choir hosted everyone to an evening of celebration with live music from Orkestar Pobeda (who really got everyone dancing), delicious food prepared and served by both Choir members and volunteer parishioners, and memories to last for many years.

Though hosting an event like this takes a lot of work, St. Nicholas parish in Monroeville is blessed with the leadership of Presbyter Stefan Djoric, who encourages stewardship and volunteerism within the parish.  The whole church really came together to make this 95th Anniversary celebration weekend an incredible success.
