CALL TO PRAYER FOR THOSE AFFLICTED BY HURRICANE HELENE AND IN THE PATH OF HURRICANE MILTON
Tuesday, October 8, 2024 – His Grace Bishop Irinej calls upon his most beloved clergy, monastics and faithful of the Eastern American Diocese to offer heartfelt prayer, interceding for those affected by Hurricane Helene, or in danger of being affected, by Hurricane Milton and their devastating impact in Florida, Georgia and the Carolinas.
His Grace remains in close contact with the affected clergy of the Miami Deanery, expressing his archpastoral prayers, paternal love and concern for them, their families and their faithful, and all who now suffer alike in the wake of Hurricane Helene’s devastation and in the path of Hurricane Milton’s impact.
Further, His Grace requests prayers for the safety of the first respondents and those who will come to the assistance of the response and recovery endeavors, those who offer shelter, food, clothing, and mercy; as well as those who now lie in the path of the storm, which continues to move closer to our Southeastern shore.
International Orthodox Christian Charities (IOCC) is offering emergency assistance and is accepting donations towards supporting the ongoing and forthcoming relief efforts. Donations may be made at the IOCC website (here). Kindly consider helping by generously contribution towards the relief efforts.
May our Lord, God, and Savior Jesus Christ, Whom the Sea of Galilee obeyed and returned to its former tranquility, always guard, protect and steadfastly shield everyone from harm’s way, while tightly embracing those who have been affected by Hurricane Helene and those who will be affected by the raging of Hurricane Milton. Amen!
