On Friday, March 24, 2023, the Feast of St. Sophronius, Patriarch of Jerusalem, the Clergy of the Pittsburgh Deanery met at the St. Nicholas Serbian Orthodox Church in Monroeville, PA for the Liturgy of the Pre-Sanctified Gifts and Clergy Confessions.
The Liturgy was served by the host Pastor, Presbyter Stefan Djoric, with Deacon Mark Matejevich assisting, while the brother Priests in attendance sang the beautiful responses. The confessions were heard by our beloved Protopresbyter-Stavrophor Rodney Torbic, whose humility and wisdom touched each and every one of us.
After the Liturgy, our hosts provided a delicious Lenten Luncheon in the Church Hall, with all the brothers expressing their appreciation for the wonderful meal.
After the luncheon, the Clergy took part in a seminar on Pastoral Counseling, given by Protopresbyter-Stavrophor Stevan Rocknage, whose academic background in Counseling and Professorship of Psychology set the tone for the seminar. The seminar gave an overview for the brothers on the Goals and the Proper Attitudes necessary in Pastoral Counseling, with the foundation being Love of Christ and the Gifts of His Grace through the Holy Spirit. After reviewing the goals and attitudes, Fr. Stevo opened the session for discussion and questions, which proved to be both enlightening and informative for all in attendance.
This wonderful day ended in prayer to the Mother of God, with a tentative plan for all the brothers to meet again after Pascha with their families! Special thanks to Fr. Stefan and his St. Nicholas Parish for their warm hospitality; to Prota Rodney for his sacrificial love, and to Prota Stevo for his devotion and dedication to his brother clergy and our Holy Church!
