ST. SAVA CATHEDRAL HOSTS SHADELAND CAMP REUNION DANCE

On November 19, 2022, St. Sava Cathedral in Parma, Ohio hosted a dance to bring together the entire St. Sava Summer Camp Community. Current and former campers, families, friends, clergy, and even those who wanted to meet new fellow Serbs were in attendance. Cleveland was happy to host visitors from surrounding communities including Pittsburgh, Windsor, Baltimore, and even as far as Arizona. We were honored that His Grace Bishop Irinej of Eastern America attended and joined in on the festivities. Protopresbyter Dragoslav Kosic, who spent time at the camp, was also present with his family.

The event was filled with hours of reminiscing about wonderful camp memories and nonstop kolo dancing, with music provided by DJ Daki, and included a contest to select the best kolo dancers. The following children were voted the winners:

  • Kolo King – Dimitrije Petrovic
  • Kolo Queen – Teodora Kosic
  • Kolo Prince – Bogoljub Batkovic
  • Kolo Princess – Madison Dougherty

The St. Petka Circle of Serbian Sisters and parishioners from St. Sava Cathedral prepared a delicious meal, complete with cevapcici, burek, gibanica, and more; and countless homemade desserts, including a palacinka dessert bar.

The event was a huge success and St. Sava Cathedral already has plans to make the Shadeland Camp Reunion Dance an annual event.

Our truly wonderous St. Sava Children’s Camp in the Village of Shadeland, from its very inception, continuously serves to bring together many generations of campers, counsellors, cooks, workers and administrators under the aegis of the Federation of the Circles of Serbian Sisters of the Eastern American Diocese.
