On the Feast of the Dormition of the Most Holy Mother of God and Ever Virgin Mary, also known as the “Summer Pascha”, the clergy of the Cleveland and Pittsburgh Deaneries, members of the Eastern Diocesan Federation of the Circles of Serbian Sisters (FCSS) and faithful came together with His Grace, our Father and Bishop Irinej to celebrate the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy and the Patronal Feast – Slava of the Eastern Diocesan Federation FCSS

A large number of faithful people showed joy on the occasion of this festal gathering and even more for the union with the Life-Giving Lord, through His Heavenly Mysteries.

After the reading of the Gospel, His Grace delivered a wonderful festive sermon reflecting on the kontakion of the Dormition, wherein we sing of the Mother of Life, whom “neither the tomb, nor death could hold” as she is “constant in prayer and our firm hope in her intercession”.

Following the Prayer before the Ambo, the offered Slava Gifts, bread, wine and wheat, were blessed in honor of the Feast, for the health of all those in whose name they were prepared, and in memory of those who have departed this life before us.

After the dismissal, a meal was prepared for all those present, during which the host, Father Dragan Goronjic, greeted the Bishop, the Kuma – host, priests and all the people present, wishing them abundant blessings, a long and peaceful life. During the program, the Kuma of this year's celebration, Mrs. Milka Vukelic, the vice-president of the FCSS, DeeDee Baskot, and Bishop Irinej, addressed the faithful, wishing that every year we gather in as large a number as possible, to bring children to church in the present, so that they will be our future.

This was truly a great day for our parish and even more so for our Diocese.

May the Mother of God, through the prayers of our Bishop, always guard and protect us.

На дивни празник Успења Мајке Божије, који се назива и летња Пасха, у храму Светога великомученика Димитрија, у Акрону, величанствено се прослави крсна слава савеза кола српских сестара на епархијском нивоу.

Свету и Божанствену Архијерејску Литургију, уз саслужење свештенства епархије, служио је наш Архипастир и добри отац, Његово Преосвештенство Епископ источноамерички Г. Иринеј.

Велики број верног народа показао је своју радост поводом славског сабрања а још више ради приседињења са Животворним Господом, кроз Његове Небеске Тајне.

По прочитаном Јеванђељу Епископ је произнео дивну празничну беседу созерцавајући о кондаку Успеније, у коме певамо о Мајци Живота, коју „ни гроб, ни смрт не могаше држати“, јер је „стална у молитви и нашa чврста нада у њеном заступништву”.

Након заамовне молитве принешени дарови, хлеб, вино и жито, осветише се и благословише за здравље свих оних у чије име се и спремише исте.

По отпусту, за све присутне припремљена је славска трпеза, у току које је домаћин, о. Драган Гороњић, поздравио Епископа, куму, свештенике и сав присутни народ, пожелевши им изобиље благослова, дугог и мирног живота. У току програма присутнима се обратила кума овогодишње прославе, госпођа Милка Вукелић, потпредседница савеза кола српских сестара Диди Баско и надлежни Епископ Г. Иринеј пожелевши да се сваке године окупљамо у што већем броју, да већ сада доводимо у храмове децу, како би била и наша будућност.

Беше ово заиста велики дан за нашу парохију а још више за нашу Епархију.

Нека би нас Мајка Божија, молитвама нашег Епископа увек чувала и штитила.
