On Thursday, June 2, 2022, the Great Feast of the Ascension of our Lord, in the parish church of the Holy Ascension in Elizabeth, New Jersey, His Grace Bishop Irinej of Eastern America initiated the 50^th anniversary and patronal feast celebration by celebrating the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy. His Grace was joined in concelebration by parish priest, the Very Rev. Protopresbyter Aleksa Micich.

During the Divine Liturgy, the Holy Gospel according to Luke was read after which His Grace Bishop Irinej addressed the present faithful and in his God-inspired sermon referred to the deeper meaning of the passage read from the Holy Gospel, emphasizing the importance and significance of the Feast Day.

In his homily, His Grace Bishop Irinej addressed the faithful that had gathered by stating that the feast of the Ascension is the fulfillment of the Feasts of the Nativity, Theophany, Transfiguration, Great and Holy Friday, and the Feast of Feasts, Pascha. For Christ, Who was incarnate in the flesh, bodily ascended so that we, too, who are born in the flesh, could overcome death in Him and live with Christ in the Kingdom of God. Therefore, the Ascension of Christ unites heaven and earth.

The faithful gathered around His Grace to witness and partake of the blessing of the Slava gifts of Wheat – Koljivo, wine, and Festal Bread – Slavski kolach, and to partake in the turning of the bread together.

У четвртак, 2 јуна 2022. године, на велики празник Вазнесења Господњег, у парохијском храму Светог Вазнесења Господњег у Елизабету, савезној држави Њу Џерси, Његово Преосвештенство Епископ источноамерички Иринеј започео је обележавање 50. годишњице и храмовне славе Евхаристијским прослављањем Свете Архијерејске Литургије. Његовом Преосвештенству саслуживао је  месни парох, високопречасни протопрезвитер Алекса Мићић.

У току свете литугије прочитано је зачало о Вазнесењу Исуса Христа из светог јеванђеља по Луки. Преосвећени Епископ Иринеј се потом обратио верницима у својој богонадахнутој беседи и осврнуо се на дубље значење прочитаног одломка из светог јеванђеља нагласивши важност и значај празника.

Празник Вазнесења је испуњење празника Рождества, Богојављења, Преображења, Великог петка и Празника над празницима, Пасхе, јер Христос, који се оваплотио у телу, телесно се узнео да бисмо и ми, који смо рођени у телу, могли победити смрт у Њему и живети са Христом у Царству Божјем. Стога Вазнесење Христово сједињује небо и земљу, истакао је Епископ Иринеј.

Верници су се окупили око Његовог Преосвештенства да сведоче и учествују у благослову славских дарова - кољиву, вину и славском колачу.
