On Saturday, October 23, 2021, His Grace Bishop Irinej of Eastern America received at the Episcopal Residence and Diocesan Headquarters in New Rochelle, New York, His Excellency Milojko Spajic, Minister of Finance and Social Welfare of Montenegro, who is on an official visitation in the United States of America.
Minister Spajic informed Bishop Irinej of the primary goals of his visit, such as merging geopolitics and economics, as well as consolidating and reducing their national debt. One of the primary goals of this visit is for the economy to start leaning on those centers of gravity that it should always have relied on, and that is primarily Washington and of course, New York.
The Bishop discussed with the Minister elements in common concerning the role of the Serbian Orthodox Church in Montenegro and the Diaspora. His Grace noted how the place of religion in public life assumes a critical role in the United States of America, as it does in Montenegro, that is to inform the conscience of the people for the common good of all.
