School Package Help to Children from Kosovo and Metohija
Update: March 7, 2021

On Tuesday, March 7, 2021, in parochial facilities of Saint Haralambos GOC in Niles, IL, the Giolas Foundation from Chicago organized the packaging of school materials for children in Kosovo and Metohiya. This event was supported by a group of young people (more than twenty) who accepted the invitation and made an important contribution in packaging the school backpacks. In his short greeting, Dn. Jovan Anicic noted that our support is a sign of Christian compassion for others, in this case, the suffering children of Kosovo and Metohiya who will receive these beautiful backpacks for the coming school year.

Mr. George and Mona Giolas from the Giolas Foundation thanked all for supporting this event.  We were given important instructions for quicker packaging. Divided into several small teams, in less than 2 hours 300 backpacks with school materials were packed and put in larger boxes!

This humanitarian action is organized with the blessings of His Grace, the Right Reverend Irinej, the Bishop of Eastern American Diocese and in cooperation with the non-profit The Giolas Foundation from Chicago.

Our goal is to collect two thousand (2,000) backpacks with school supplies for children in Kosovo and Metohiya. We pray that all church-school congregations of the Eastern American Diocese of the SOC together with all those who would like to donate help us to reach this goal.

This humanitarian action will last until the end of May 2021, when all collected children's school materials will be shipped to the Serbian Orthodox Diocese of Rashka and Prizren in Kosovo.

Together with the Giolas Foundation, the Department of Christian Education of Eastern American Diocese SOC uses this opportunity to encourage our faithful people to continue giving their donations. We continue in our efforts to collect 2,000 backpacks!
