65th Anniversary of the Consecration of St George Church in Carmichaels

The Sixty Fifth Anniversary of the consecration of the St. George Serbian Orthodox Church in Carmichaels, Pennsylvania was celebrated on November 9, 2019.

 

His Grace Bishop IRINEJ of the Eastern American Diocese of the Serbian Orthodox Church officiated at the Hierachical Divine Liturgy. Very Reverend Presbyter Sasa Nedic was the host priest.

 

Additional serving clergy included Episcopal Deputy Very Reverend Stavrophor Rade Merick, Very Reverend Stavrophor Dr. Rodney Torbic, Very Reverend Stavrophor Rajko Kosic, Reverend Father Dejan Barac, Very Reverend Presbyter Milan Dragovic, Reverend Presbyter Branislav Golic, Reverend Presbyter Stefan Doric and Very Reverend Protodeacon Dr. Jovan Anicic. Very Reverend Presbyter George Veslinovic was in attendance.

 

Sonia Janson directed the St. George Choir with the inspiring responses. The St. George Church was filled with parishioners and friends including faithful from parishes in Aliquippa, Monroeville, Steubenville, Ohio and Fairmont, West Virginia.

 

His Grace Bishop IRINEJ emphasized during the sermon that the martyrs St. George, St. Demetrius and St. Nestor are remembered to this day in God’s Holy Church. The martyrs’ persecutors were long forgotten.

 

During the Divine Liturgy, the faithful living and departed of St. George Church were prayerfully remembered. His Grace recognized, encouraged and thanked Father Sasa Nedic, the Executive Board, Choir, Kolo and faithful.

 

A festive banquet was held at Dolfi’s Restaurant following the Divine Liturgy.  Father Sasa Nedicserved as Master of Ceremonies at the banquet. Speakers included His Grace Bishop IRINEJ, Father Nedic, Executive Board President Stan Brozik, ChoirDirector and Kolo President Sonia Janson and father Rodney Torbic.

 

         The St. George Church has been blessed by God and has been a blessing for countless numbers of individuals far and wide. The parish has been blessed with hierarchs, clergy and faithful through the years. God has continued to renew the parish and keep it vibrant. New parishioners continue to join with the living as the departed faithful remain in the hearts and prayers of the parish.

 

His Grace Bishop IRINEJ, Father Sasa, the clergy and faithful participating in the celebration were voices of gratitude to God and expressions of hope for a promising future for the St. George Church.

 

         Thank God for His Grace, Father Sasa, clergy, faithful and friends of the parish on this joyous occasion. May St. George Church continue to grow and thrive until the glorious Second Coming.
