Joyous Celebration of St. Mardarije

Father Branislav Golic hosted the first celebration of the Divine Liturgy at St. Elijah Serbian Orthodox Church in Aliquippa, Pennsylvania commemorating St. Mardarije of Libertyville. The celebration was on Tuesday, December 12, 2017.

St. Elijah Church is in the Pittsburgh Deanery of the Eastern American Diocese. Protopresbyter Stavrophor Rade Merick is The Dean. His Grace Bishop IRINEJ is the Diocesan Bishop.

Deanery clergy participating in addition to Father Golic included Protopresbyter Stavrophor Dr. Rodney Torbic, Protopresbyter Stavrophor Rajko Kosic, Protopresbyter Dejan Barac and Protopresbyter George Veselinovic.

This was an initial joyous celebration intended to be held each year. Kathy Loverich and Cathy Chesla from St. Elijah Choir provided the inspiring responses. Rich Chesla and Robert Baron assisted in the Altar.

Father Golic used his most recent Sunday sermon to speak about St. Mardarije. This is a newly glorified Serbian saint having lived and spread the Gospel in North America. Current and future generations will benefit from St. Mardarije.

This commemoration of St. Mardarije occurred on the Second Anniversary of the repose of +Igumanija Ana (Radetic) of Monastery Marcha. She was prayerfully remembered during the Divine Liturgy.

Great benefit exists when parishes celebrate the Divine Liturgy on weekdays to commemorate the saints of God's Holy Church. The celebration of the Divine Liturgy changes and affects not only those in attendance.

The celebration of the Divine Liturgy transcends time and geography. The Divine Liturgy reveals and celebrates the glory of God. The Divine Liturgy unites the faithful through the centuries and changes the world for the better.

Communities become better with each celebration of the Divine Liturgy. Parishes are strengthened with each Divine Liturgy. Christ is manifested and joyously experienced in each Divine Liturgy.

St. Mardarije continues to make a difference because of his love and extraordinary commitment to The Lord Jesus Christ. Thank God for Father Branislav Golic and St. Elijah Church initiating this celebration.

May the seeds planted in North America by St. Mardarije multiply and bear even great fruit in the ensuing years to come. May the love for and appreciation of St. Mardarije increase among believers with each passing day.
