During the first week of camp at Shadeland, Vespers was celebrated on Friday evening, July 14, 2017 in the Monastery church of the Most Holy Mother of God. The service focused on the Placing of the Honorable Robe of the Mother of God.
Following the Vesper service in the St. Sava Camp dining hall, a beautiful icon of the Mother of God was blessed. The icon was written by Reverend Father Dragan Zaric of St. Nicholas Serbian Orthodox Church, Johnstown, Pennsylvania.
Father Zaric is serious iconographer. His icons have added to the St. Nicholas Serbian Orthodox Church in Johnstown. His icons have enriched the lives of the faithful blessed to witness them.
Father Zaric participated in the first week of camp at Shadeland with his sons Gavrilo and Jovan. Popadija Izvorinka and son Sergie enjoy and are supportive of Father Dragan’s interest in iconography.
The beautiful icon of the Mother of God prepared by Father Zaric was donated to the St. Sava Camp at Shadeland and will be a lasting inspiration. Campers and visitors to the camp will have the opportunity to venerate the icon.
Participants in the first week of camp this year had the opportunity to view the icon and be present during the blessing. Great joy filled the camp dining hall. Earlier in the week, His Grace Bishop IRINEJ had an advance view of the icon.
Father Zaric continues to study the fine points of iconography and works diligently to improve his work. Father Dragan willingly uses his gift from God to enrich the lives of others through iconography.
Thank God for Father Zaric’s love for doing Godly work. Thank God for his generosity and interest in benefitting St. Sava Camp. May Father Dragan continue to enrich the lives of the faithful with icons God inspires him to write.
