KOLO SLAVA CELEBRATION IN CARMICHAELS, PENNSYLVANIA

The Circle of Serbian Sisters – Kolo Srpskih Sestara of the St. George Serbian Orthodox Church in Carmichaels, Pennsylvania celebrate the Feast of the Dormition of the Mother of God as their Patronal Feast – Slava. The Sisters hold the Mother of God dear to their hearts.

The St. George Sisters look to the Mother of God for protection, inspiration and prayerful intercession. The Sisters have maintained the same Slava down through the years with faithful remembrance.

The Sisters gathered together at the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy on August 30, 2026 for the blessing of the Festal Bread and Memorial Wheat. Living and departed members of the Kolo were remembered in fervent prayer.

Sonia Janson serves as the long time President of the Kolo. The Kolo Sisters actively support the parish priest Protopresbyter Sasa Nedic in his efforts throughout the year.

The St. George Sisters have established a long record of warm hospitality and great devotion to the parish. The Sisters have contributed to the growth and continued life of the parish from the very beginning.

God has blessed the Kolo Sisters with love for the parish church and for the Mother of God. The Sisters have worked consistently through the decades for the benefit of the parish.

The Sisters have been mindful of the needs of the parish priest, the church building and the parish home. They have contributed to addressing parish needs as they have arisen.

The St. George Sisters have a remarkable reputation for the baking they have undertaken through the years. The have been charitable contributors to worthy causes.

Though the list of Kolo members departed this life increases with each passing year, the departed members are always remembered consistently for their significant and lasting contributions.

This year’s Slava was a joyous celebration. Thank God for the Kolo Sisters remaining faithful to St. George Church. Thank God for providing Sisters willing to work in behalf of the parish and the benefit of others.

Gratitude is due to the Mother of God for being the Protectress of the Kolo Sisters.  May the joy of this year’s celebration remain in the hearts of the parishioners. The Mother of God is ever-present as intercessor for the Kolo Sisters.
