VLADIMIR BOŽOVIĆ ELECTED PRESIDENT OF THE SOCIETY OF FOREIGN CONSULS IN NEW YORK

The Consul General of the Republic of Serbia in New York, Ambassador Dr. Vladimir Božović, was unanimously elected President of the Society of Foreign Consuls (SOFC) in New York, becoming the first representative of the Republic of Serbia to lead the organization in its 102-year history, the Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced today.

The election of Ambassador Božović as President of the SOFC represents a historic recognition of the Republic of Serbia and its diplomacy, as well as a strong confirmation of the reputation that Serbia enjoys today in the international diplomatic community, the statement said.

In his inaugural address, the newly elected President thanked all members for their trust, emphasizing that this election represents a great recognition not only for him personally, but also for the Republic of Serbia, its diplomacy and the work of the Consulate General of the Republic of Serbia in New York.

He particularly emphasized that the election of the first representative of Serbia to head the SOFC represents a historic success and confirmation of the increasingly significant role that the Republic of Serbia plays in international diplomatic circles.

Presenting the program of his mandate, he announced the further strengthening of cooperation and solidarity among the members of the Society, the improvement of partnerships with the institutions of the City of New York, the State of New York, the United States Department of State, the Office of Foreign Missions, and the United Nations, as well as the further strengthening of public and digital diplomacy.

As priorities of the mandate, he presented the establishment of the annual SOFC award, the launch of a diplomatic leadership program, initiatives aimed at young diplomats and future leaders, as well as a series of activities aimed at strengthening international cooperation, mutual understanding and friendship among peoples.

Among the guests was His Grace Bishop Irinej of Washington-New York and Eastern America of the Serbian Orthodox Church, as the guest of honor at the annual meeting and subsequently, at the ceremonial reception of the Society of Foreign Consuls in New York.

ВЛАДИМИР БОЖОВИЋ ИЗАБРАН ЗА ПРЕДСЕДНИКА ДРУШТВА СТРАНИХ КОНЗУЛА У ЊУЈОРКУ

Генерални конзул Републике Србије у Њујорку, амбасадор др Владимир Божовић, једногласно је изабран за председника Друштва страних конзула (СОФЦ) у Њујорку, чиме је постао први представник Републике Србије на челу те организације у њеној 102-годишњој историји, саопштено је данас из Министарства спољних послова Србије.

Избор амбасадора Божовића за председника СОФЦ-а представља историјско признање Републици Србији и њеној дипломатији, као и снажну потврду угледа који Србија данас ужива у међународној дипломатској заједници, истиче се у саопштењу.

У свом инаугуралном обраћању, новоизабрани председник захвалио је свим чланицама на указаном поверењу, истичући да овај избор представља велико признање не само њему лично, већ и Републици Србији, њеној дипломатији и раду Генералног конзулата Републике Србије у Њујорку.

Посебно је нагласио да избор првог представника Србије на чело СОФЦ-а представља историјски успех и потврду све значајније улоге коју Република Србија има у међународним дипломатским круговима.

Представљајући програм свог мандата, најавио је даље јачање сарадње и солидарности међу чланицама Друштва, унапређење партнерства са институцијама Града Њујорка, Савезне државе Њујорк, Стејт департментом Сједињених Америчких Држава, Канцеларијом за стране мисије (Office of Foreign Missions) и Уједињеним нацијама, као и даље јачање јавне и дигиталне дипломатије.

Као приоритете мандата представио је успостављање годишње награде СОФЦ-а, покретање програма дипломатског лидерства, иницијативе намењене младим дипломатама и будућим лидерима, као и низ активности усмерених ка јачању међународне сарадње, међусобног разумевања и пријатељства међу народима.

Међу званицама, налазио се и Његово Преосвештенство Епископ вашингтонско-њујоршки и источноамерички Српске Православне Цркве Г. Иринеј, у својству почасног госта на годишњој скупштини и у наставку, на свечаном пријему Друштва страних конзула у Њујорку.
