On Sunday, June 28, 2026, on the holy feast of Vidovdan (St. Vitus Day), the Lord granted the faithful of the St. Sava Cathedral in Cleveland, Ohio, great joy and blessings. Gathered around the Holy Altar of God, they were blessed by the presence of His Grace Bishop Irinej of Washington– New York, and Eastern America, who celebrated the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy and, through his edifying sermon, enriched the liturgical assembly and bore witness to the eternal truth that the Church is a community gathered around her bishop, around the Holy Eucharist, and around Christ Himself. Concelebrating with the bishop was Presbyter Dragan Vuković, dean of the Cathedral, assisted by Deacon Milan Damljanović of the Cathedral.

According to the chosen words of Bishop Irinej, Vidovdan is not merely the remembrance of a historical event. It is the day of our spiritual commitment. On the Field of Kosovo, Holy Prince Lazar and the Martyrs of Kosovo did not choose death, but Life; they did not choose the fleeting glory of this world, but the everlasting glory of the Kingdom of God. Strengthened by the Body and Blood of Christ—the Medicine of Immortality—they bore witness that everything earthly is temporary, while only Christ’s Kingdom remains forever. That choice did not remain confined to history but is renewed continually at every Divine Liturgy. When the priest proclaims, “Let us commit ourselves and one another and our whole life unto Christ our God,” every believer stands before the same choice that confronted Holy Prince Lazar and his martyred knights. Therefore, his words, “the Earthly kingdom is for a little while, but the Heavenly Kingdom is forever and ever,” are not merely a historical testament, rather a living liturgical reality. To commit ourselves, one another, and our whole life to Christ our God means choosing the Kingdom of Heaven above everything that is passing away. Thus, every Divine Liturgy becomes our new Vidovdan, and every approach to the Holy Chalice becomes our renewed commitment to Christ and His eternal Kingdom.

Following the Divine Liturgy, a Memorial Service was served for all the martyred faithful and warriors—from the heroes of Kosovo to all the known and unknown martyrs who, throughout the centuries, laid down their lives for the Orthodox faith, for the Honorable Cross, and for golden freedom. Prayers of thanksgiving were offered to the Lord for their holy witness, together with petitions that He would grant them rest in His eternal Kingdom, where there is neither pain, nor sorrow, nor sighing, but life everlasting.

An additional source of spiritual joy on this feast day was provided by Deaconess Mira Damljanović, who brought to the Cathedral the blessing of the Most Holy Theotokos—a ribbon that had been sanctified and blessed during the visit of the Honorable Belt of the Most Holy Theotokos to the Serbian capital of Belgrade. On this occasion, His Grace Bishop Irinej explained the special significance of this gift being presented on Vidovdan, since the Belt—which the Most Holy Theotokos herself had woven—had once been entrusted to the care of the Holy Prince Lazar. Foreseeing the fate that would befall Serbia, he carried the Honorable Belt to Mount Athos and presented it to the Monastery of Vatopedi for safekeeping. The bishop then shared with the faithful beautiful testimonies of the miracles that the Lord has worked through the prayers of the Most Holy Theotokos before this great holy relic. Afterwards, all the faithful reverently approached to venerate the blessed ribbon and receive the blessing of our Most Holy Lady, the Mother of God.

In the spirit of the festal celebration, diplomas and certificates were solemnly presented to the graduating students of the parish community in recognition of their diligence, perseverance, and achievements. At the same time, heartfelt gratitude was expressed to all the children, young people, and parishioners whose labor, love, and self-sacrifice contribute to the life and growth of the Holy Church. May the Lord multiply every good gift bestowed upon them, strengthen them in faith and virtue, and grant that they may always walk in the footsteps of our holy ancestors.

This was followed by fellowship around the agape meal, lovingly and dedicatedly prepared by the devoted members of the St. Petka Circle of Serbian Sisters. Just as the Lord gathers us at the Divine Liturgy into the one Body of Christ, so too at the fraternal table we continue the communion of love, giving thanks to God and rejoicing in one another. For the true Liturgy does not end with the dismissal but continues in daily life—in love, service, mercy, and in bearing one another’s burdens.

Sincere gratitude was expressed to His Grace Bishop Irinej for his paternal love, archpastoral care, and the blessings he bestowed upon the parish community. Appreciation was likewise extended to all those who, through their labor, sacrifice, prayers, and faithfulness, contribute to the life and strengthening of the Holy Church. The Lord does not forget even the smallest, good deed done in His name, but rewards each person according to His immeasurable love for humankind.

May the prayers of the Holy Prince Lazar, the Holy Kosovo martyrs, the Most Holy Theotokos, and all the Serbian Saints strengthen us to choose Christ and His eternal Kingdom anew each day. May every Divine Liturgy become a new Vidovdan, and every approach to the Holy Chalice a sincere commitment that, in the words of the Church, “we commit ourselves, one another, and our whole life unto Christ our God,” following the testament of the Holy Prince Lazar: “The Earthly kingdom is for a little while, but the Heavenly Kingdom is forever and ever.”

У недељу, 28. јуна 2026. године, на свети празник Видовдан, Господ је удостојио вернике Саборног храма Св. Саве у Кливленду, Охајо, велике радости и благослова. Сабрани око Светог Престола Божјег, преосвећени Епископ вашингтонско-њујоршки и источноамерички Г. Г.  Иринеј, који је служењем Св. Архијерејске Литургије и поучном беседом увеличао  литургијско сабрање и посведочио вечну истину да је Црква заједница сабрана око свога Епископа, око Свете Евхаристије и око Самога Христа. Епископу је саслуживао презвитер Драган Вуковић, старешина Саборног храма, уз прислужење ђакона при Саборном храму у Кливленду, Милана Дамљановића.   

Према одабраним речима владике Иринеја, Видовдан није само успомена на један историјски догађај. Он је дан нашег духовног опредељења. На Косову пољу Свети кнез Лазар и косовски мученици нису изабрали смрт, него Живот; нису изабрали пролазну славу овога света, него непролазну славу Царства Божјег. Укрепивши се Телом и Крвљу Христовом – Леком бесмртности – посведочили су да је све земаљско пролазно, а једино Христово Царство остаје вечно. Тај избор није остао само у историји, него се непрестано обнавља на свакој Светој Литургији. Када свештеник позове: „Сами себе, и једни друге, и сав живот свој Христу Богу предајмо“, сваки верник стоји пред истим избором пред којим је стајао и Свети кнез Лазар са својим мученичким витезовима. Зато његове речи: „Земаљско је за малена царство, а Небеско увек и довека“, нису само историјски завет, већ жива литургијска стварност. Предати себе, једни друге и сав свој живот Христу Богу значи изабрати Царство Небеско испред свега што је пролазно. Зато је свака Света Литургија наш нови Видовдан, а сваки приступ Светој Чаши наше поновно опредељење за Христа и Његово вечно Царство.

По завршетку Свете Литургије служен је помен свим пострадалим мученицима и ратницима – од косовских јунака до свих знаних и незнаних страдалника који су кроз векове положили своје животе за веру православну, за Крст часни и слободу златну. Узнесене су благодарне молитве Господу за њихово свето сведочанство, као и молитве да их настани у Своме вечном Царству, где нема бола, ни туге, ни уздисања, него живот бесконачни.

Додатну духовну радост овог празничног дана уприличила је ђаконица Мира Дамљановић, која је у принела Саборном храму благослов Пресвете Богородице – врпцу освећену и благословену приликом боравка Часног Појаса Пресвете Богородице у српској престоници, Београду. Том приликом Преосвећени Владика Иринеј је објаснио како је од посебног значаја што је овај дар уручен на Видовдан, пошто је Појас, која је сама Пресвета Богородице ткала, био поверен на чувањуеСв. Кнезу Лазару. Он, предосетивши која ће судбина задесити Србију, однео је Часни Појас на Свету Гору Атоснку и поклонио је Манастиру Ватопеду. Затим, Преосвећени Владика поделио је са сабранима дивна сведочанства о чудима која је Господ пројавио молитвама Пресвете Богородице пред овом великом светињом. Потом су сви верни са побожношћу приступили да целивају благословену врпцу и приме благослов Пресвете Владичице Богородице.

У духу празничне радости свечано су уручене дипломе и сертификати матурантима парохијске заједнице, као признање за њихов труд, истрајност и постигнуте успехе. Истовремено су изражене речи искрене благодарности свој деци, омладини и свим парохијанима који својим трудом, љубављу и пожртвовањем доприносе животу и напретку Свете Цркве. Нека им Господ умножи сваки добри дар, укрепи их у вери и врлини и дарује да увек ходе путем наших светих предака.

Потом је уследило сабрање око трпезе љубави, коју су са великом љубављу и пожртвовањем припремиле вредне чланице Кола српских сестара „Света Петка“. Као што нас Господ на Светој Литургији сабира у једно Тело Христово, тако и за братском трпезом настављамо заједницу љубави, благодарећи Богу и радујући се једни другима. Јер истинска Литургија не престаје отпустом, него се наставља у животу – у љубави, служењу, милосрђу и ношењу бремена једни других.

На крају је изражена искрена благодарност Преосвећеном Владики Иринеју за очинску љубав, архипастирску бригу и благослов којим је обрадовао парохијску заједницу. Речи благодарности упућене су и свима који својим трудом, жртвом, молитвом и верношћу изграђују и укрепљују живот Свете Цркве. Господ не заборавља ни најмање добро дело учињено у Његово име, него свакоме узвраћа по неизмерном Своме човекољубљу.

Нека нас молитве Светога кнеза Лазара, светих косовских мученика, Пресвете Богородице и свих српских светитеља укрепе да свакога дана изнова бирамо Христа и Његово вечно Царство. Нека би свака Света Литургија била нови Видовдан, а сваки приступ Светој Чаши искрено опредељење да, по речима Цркве, „сами себе, и једни друге, и сав живот свој Христу Богу предамо“, следујући завету Светога кнеза Лазара: „Земаљско је за малена царство, а Небеско увек и довека.“
