On Saturday, June 27, 2026, with the blessings of His Grace Bishop Irinej, parishioners of Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Cathedral in Pittsburgh, PA, proudly participated in the Whitehall Borough 250th Anniversary Parade, joining local organizations, civic leaders, and community groups in celebrating this historic milestone.
Representing our parish with faith and enthusiasm, Rev. Presbyter Nebojsa and parishioners participated in the parade while carrying a banner that proclaimed our commitment to both our Orthodox Christian heritage and our local community. The banner featured the message: “Honoring America’s 250th Anniversary – Rooted in Faith, United in Community,” reflecting the values that have guided our parish throughout its history.
As Orthodox Christians, we recognize the importance of being active members of the communities in which God has placed us. Our participation in the parade was an opportunity to share the presence of our Cathedral with neighbors throughout Whitehall and the South Hills while celebrating the blessings of freedom, faith, family, and community that have helped shape our nation over the past 250 years.
The parade also provided an opportunity for fellowship among our parishioners as they walked together, greeted spectators, and represented the rich spiritual and cultural traditions of the Serbian Orthodox Church. Through our participation, we sought to witness to the Gospel by demonstrating that the Church is not only a place of worship but also an active and caring presence within the broader community.
We are grateful to Whitehall Borough for organizing this memorable celebration and for bringing together residents from across the area to commemorate this important anniversary. Events such as these strengthen community bonds and remind us of the importance of working together for the common good.
We thank all of the parishioners who participated in the parade and helped represent our Cathedral with dignity, joy, and Christian love.
Rooted in Faith, United in Community. May God continue to bless our parish, Whitehall Borough, and our nation as we celebrate this historic anniversary year.
