WEEK 2 AT SHADELAND: SUN, FUN, AND LIFELONG MEMORIES

Week 2 of St. Sava Camp began on Sunday, July 20, 2025, and the excitement was in the air as campers returned to our beautiful Shadeland grounds for another week of fun and fellowship. Once again, the dedicated women of Monroeville provided delicious lunches during registration.

The campers enjoyed a week packed with activities, including boating, swimming, and endless outdoor games. Our counselors work tirelessly daily to ensure all campers are safe and having fun. With the summer sun shining and temperatures soaring, water activities quickly became the highlight of the week. The slip‑n‑slide was a favorite, sending campers racing and laughing all afternoon. Another big hit was the hidden scroll game, where teams competed to find the scroll each day—earning the chance to make a special request to head counselor Stana.

The warm weather even allowed for a memorable night swim, which quickly became a favorite camp tradition. Midweek, the annual camper-versus-counselor basketball game brought out everyone’s competitive spirit. This year, the campers proudly walked away with the bragging rights!

On Thursday, campers participated in Divine Liturgy, served by Protopresbyter-Stavrophor Fr. Rodney Torbic and Presbyter-Economos Fr. Vedran Grabic, a meaningful midweek reminder of the faith and fellowship, including Religious Education classes, is at the heart of camp life. Later in the week, the trip to Waldameer Park offered a thrilling (and very hot!) day of rides, games, and laughter.

As the week came to an end, campers shared hugs, stories, and promises to meet again. Saying goodbye is never easy, but the memories of sunny days, laughter, and friendship will last until we all return to Shadeland next summer.
