Dn. Jovan Anicic visits Atlanta Parish

Dn. Jovan Anicic visits the church of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul in Atlanta

Children learn better through play and look forward to classes, confirms the church school at the church of the St Apostles Peter and Paul. In order to get to know our educational staff better, I visited this congregation on February 2, 2018.

The assembly of teachers, dominated by a woman's hand, is a creative group of Orthodox enthusiasts. In their work with children they use very creative didactic methods. Sometimes a composite teaching program is enriched with various activities, exhibitions, and even sketches. The Church spirit is clearly accentuated and stands solidly at the foundation of their work.  The topics of the Holy Scriptures and the life of the Church of Christ are nicely clarified. The same is done with the classes of Serbian language and Serbian culture.

Upon entering the classroom, one is greeted by cheerful colors and photos of smiling children, and there is a sense of entering a little lab of spirit and virtue. I felt how important the gift of teaching is for the Church life. The love of working with children and that huge amount of positive energy yielded fruit. A great number of children gladly attend classes. Our key goal is to make ecclesiastical teachings beautiful and beneficial for their healthy spiritual growth.

I use this opportunity to express my gratitute to Fr Miladin Blagojevic, the parish priest of the Church of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul, Mrs.Vera Vatkins, the president of the church-school board, the teachers: presbytera Brankica Blagojević, Ranki Zelić, Tanja Bilaković and Vanda Radović, for their kindness and hospitality.
